Purpose: To bring the young and not so young woman together to share wisdom and experiences while learning from and with each other.
Our purpose is derived from the Book of Titus that directs the older woman to teach the younger woman. We believe in order to achieve our purpose we must come together regardless of race, age, education or economic standing.
Women can become members by going to www.mothers2daughters.com. The general membership is free. Our interactive radio program can be heard at 94.7 FM in West Tennessee and Northern Mississippi or on the web by visiting our webpage and clicking the radio link.
POSITIVE SELF CARE
Ladies we are programmed to care for our families. This programming often leads us to neglect ourselves. Even though we may be neglecting ourselves it is never to late to be reprogrammed.
Here are a few simple steps to begin the reprogramming process:
Take a 30 minute break each day as your time;
Select 3-5 inexpensive things you enjoy and do them often; and
At least once a month treat yourself to special time by going to a movie, bookstore, library, park or a quiet place where you can take a mind break.
Pamper Yourself!
When you are stressed talk with someone you trust. Communicating to someone close can often bring to the surface answers to pressing problems.
HAVE YOU HEARD!
To Raise Heart Healthy Children You Should:
Limit Television, movies, video games and add physical activities.
Plan family outings and vacations that include biking, walking, hiking and other physical activities.
Take advantage of community recreation opportunities.
Benefits of activity range from boosting energy, reducing stress, weight control, increasing muscle strength and more.
If the parent sets an example the children will follow!
GIRL TALK!
Most teen girls enjoy conversations with their friends but when it comes to conversations with their mothers well that's another story.
Some of us Moms attempt to be one of the girls by trying to know the lines to the popular songs or wearing trendy clothes (not designed for women over 25). This can often make our teen daughters hide in disbelief.
Teens you have got to help your Mom to understand that you need a Mom and not a buddy, you need guidance, support and yes a ride and money.
Most of all you need a Mom who is willing to listen.
Take These Four(4) Steps:
1. Suggest having a mother/daughter day once a month; 2. Take the time to tell your Mom about your day and not justsay it was fine; 3. Give her a hug without her asking; and 4. Make sure you tell her that you love her and not just on Mother's Day.
Remember that your Mom was once a teenager, I know it is hard to belief but yes she was!
June is the month to honor your Father so do something special for your Dad!
